Editorial Policy

The Avalon Journal of Law is committed to publishing high-quality, interdisciplinary legal scholarship that engages critically with law and society. Our editorial values are grounded in academic integrity, accessibility, and a deep belief in the law’s potential as an instrument of equity and reform.

🔸Scope and Focus

We accept original, unpublished manuscripts across all areas of law and allied disciplines. The journal particularly encourages work that challenges traditional boundaries, contributes to ongoing legal debates, or introduces new perspectives on emerging areas of law and policy.

Submissions are welcome from academics, legal professionals, independent researchers, and law students.

🔸Review Process

All submissions are subjected to a single-blind peer review process (where the reviewers remain anonymous to the authors). Research papers and long-form articles are reviewed by independent subject experts or members of the editorial board with relevant specialization.

Shorter formats — such as case notes, legislative analyses, and book reviews — are editorially reviewed by the core editorial team.

Submissions not meeting the required academic or ethical standards will be summarily rejected.

🔸Originality and Plagiarism

All submissions must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism in any form (above 10%, excluding properly cited references) will result in automatic disqualification. Simultaneous submissions to other journals are not permitted.

🔸Citation and Formatting

We follow The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st edition) for all categories. Submissions should be clear, concise, and professionally formatted. Word limits for each submission category are available on the Submissions page.

🔸Publication Schedule

Avalon Journal of Law follows a biannual publication calendar, with issues released in:

  • September (Vol. 1 Issue 1, 2025)
  • March (Vol. 1 Issue 2, 2026)

Special issues may also be announced for thematic collections or collaborations.

🔸Editorial Discretion

The Editorial Board reserves full discretion regarding acceptance, rejection, and requests for revision. All decisions are final and made in accordance with our commitment to transparency and academic rigor.

🔸Ethical Standards

Avalon adheres to the principles of academic freedom and follows ethical publication guidelines as laid out by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). Conflicts of interest must be declared. Any corrections or retractions post-publication will be addressed with full transparency.
